Tom Bluemlein - Landscape Workshop

April 21-22, 2018

Making your photo reference paintings look like they are from life. Tom will take you through simple techniques and expert instruction combined to show you how to take an image, grid it and turn it into a painting that has energy and movement.

Tom celebrates nature, capturing not only the beauty of the landscape but also the life force of creation. He captures the spirit of the locale not just the natural elements on view within the canvas. His paintings reach out to invite the viewer in as a silent partner to linger and come to the scene and get lost in it. A native Kentuckian, Tom has studied with several masters and his art career spans three decades. Tom enjoys mentoring other artists especially through his workshops and demonstrations. He is Past President of the Cincinnati Art Club, Signature member of the Oil Painters of America, Indiana Plein Air Painters, and past President and Signature member of the American Impressionist Society.

John P. Lasater IV - From Observation to Imagination

4-Day Plein Air and Studio Workshop
June 7 - 10, 2018, 9 - 4 pm daily

A familiar name in the national plein air scene, John excels at design, sophisticated color mixing, paint application and edge-control. And now, expect to be encouraged and challenged by his demonstrations and hands-on help. You’re invited to explore the possibilities by taking outdoor painting reference into your studio to make something even better using memory and imagination. Two days will be spent outdoors gathering reference, and the other two days in the studio starting a larger comprehensive painting. John encourages and helps you to look beyond the beautiful qualities of a motif to determine its pictorial usefulness and imaginative potential, thereby adding new excitement to your painting experience.
