Exhibit Juror

Dr. Julie Aronson has served as Curator of American Painting
and Sculpture at the Cincinnati Art Museum since 1999. She
earned her B.A. in art history from Brandeis University and a
master's degree from Williams College.

Dr. Aronson formerly
served as Assistant Curator of American Art at the Nelson-Atkins
Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri, and held research
posts at the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian
American Art Museum.  

Her expertise ranges from New England
folk portraiture to painters of the Cincinnati region, and her
publications include American Naïve Paintings from the National
Gallery of Art and essays on women sculptors for American
National Biography.

At the Cincinnati Art Museum, Dr. Aronson
served on the curatorial team that produced the permanent collection
display, The Cincinnati Wing: The Story of Art in the Queen City,
and she edited and co-authored the companion publication.

 
Eligibility Requirements

Open to all artists 18 years of age and above.

A top-award (1st or 2nd place) winner from 2006 and
2007 is ineligible to win one of the top awards in 2008.

1. Three (3) slides or jpgs may be submitted by each
    participant, but only one piece of artwork will be 
    admitted to show.

2. Dimensions shall not exceed framed size of 60" (h) x 
    40" (w). No exeptions. Each exhibit must be suitably
    framed  and ready  for hanging. No Swiss clips or  braquette frames will be accepted.         

3. Sculpture must not exceed 36" x 36" x 60" and must 
    be stable or attached to a stable base.

4. Shipped artwork requiring glazing must use PLEXI-
    GLASS™ or other brand of sturdy plastic sheeting. 
    Artwork using standard glass will not be admitted.

5. The decision of the Jury of Selection and/or Exhibition 
    Director with regard to the acceptance or non-
    acceptance of work submitted is final.

6. Entrants eligible for one award only.

7. We will not admit any artwork that is different than the
    accepted slide or jpg.

8. All artwork must be for sale.

Note: Only totally original work conceived and executed
by entrant after Jan 1, 2006 may be submitted. Photography,
crafts, fiber, computer-generated art or
jewelry will not be accepted.

 
Entry Fees

Deadline: September 15, 2008 (postmarked)

     $35 for first slide or jpg, $20 for second, and

     $10 for third entry.

Note: Entry Fees are not refundable.

Slides

All slide entries must be accurate 35mm color. Bulky plastic,
glass or oversized slides will not be judged.
Slide FRONT must have the following information:

          1. “Top” Indication         4. Image Size

          2. Artist Name               5. Medium

          3. Title                            6. Price

Digital Entries (not created digitally)

Submit 1 CD with up to 3 images on it in jpg format, no larger
than 5MB each when open. On the CD write the artist's name,
titles with image sizes, mediums and prices.

Title your digital files with your
last name first_ first name initial_ number then title of piece.
Example: Smith_J_1.Morning Light

Any digital manipulation must be limited to making the
digital file look more like the original art, otherwise
risk disqualification.

Slides will be returned with results if you include a #10 SASE
with $.84 postage.

CDs will not be  returned, but remember to include a #10 SASE
with $.42 postage, so we can send your results.

Delivery and Return of Accepted Artwork

Hand-delivered work must be delivered to the

Cincinnati Art Club , 1021 Parkside Place, Cincinnati, OH 45202
on November 3, 2008 between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

Detailed shipping instructions will be mailed to artists
whose work is selected for ViewPoint 2008.

All shipped works must be PREPAID for both directions and arrive
no later than October 30, 2008.

Artwork that arrives
without prepaid return sticker will be held until prepaid
return is received.

Note: Artists or Representatives are responsible for
insuring their artwork in both directions. The containers
must be sturdy and reusable for return shipping.
No styrofoam peanuts.

Liability & Insurance

Reasonable precautions will be taken to safeguard
all entries; however, the Cincinnati Art Club and
the holding company will not be responsible for the
loss of, or damage to, slides, CDs and/or any work
submitted. Works sent to this exhibition shall
indicate agreement on the part of the artist with
the above conditions.

Artists are strongly encouraged to insure artwork
in transit and during the exhibition.

Commissions

All artwork must be for sale, with a 30% commission
payable to the Cincinnati Art Club from each sale.
P.O.R. not acceptable.

All artwork must remain on display through
Sunday, November 23, 2008. Hand-delivered artwork
must be picked up November 24, 2008
between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
